Dr. Guang

Dr. Guang obtained his Ph.D. from a respected American university. While doing his post-doctoral work at the same university, Dr. Guang engaged in three novel projects dealing with 1.) evasion of gene silencing 2.) MITEs and 3.) development of bioinformatics. Dr. Guang has published chapters in a scientific book, one article and one patent is pending due to his work.

Dr. Guang retained Z&A in 2003. Our attorney made the connection that even though his work on MITEs is mainly done on plants, his findings will be applicable to other genomes, including the human genome. More directly, his research will provide improved methods for genetically modifying agriculturally important crops, which will bring direct economic benefit for the agricultural sector of the U.S. economy. Thus, Dr. Guang's research into agricultural products and biotechnology will benefit the whole nation.

We submitted his package in July of 2003 and were approved in April of 2005.

Dr. Tao

Dr. Tao is advanced degree graduate from China who has earned his B.S., M.S., and PhD there. In China , he authored 14 journal articles that published in Chinese electrical engineering journals. After coming to the U.S. in 2002, Dr. Tao has continued to make valuable contribution to America . Dr. Tao reviewed and published 25 articles appearing in various well know electrical engineering journals and conferences in the U.S. and abroad. His contribution in the U.S. also include inventions to leading power industries and eight patents of which 2 have been accepted by the U.S. Patent Office.

In February of 2005, Dr. Tao came to Z&A to apply for labor certification waiver. After reviewing Dr. Tao's case, the Z&A team recommended an EB-1(a) (alien of extraordinary ability). Z&A noted that Dr. Tao is considered the leading expert in his field of expertise and that field of low-voltage soft-switching power supplies research is a rapidly emerging research topic in the branch of power electronics. Z&A also stressed that Dr. Tao's work will significantly improve electrical conversion efficiency and performance in low-voltage power supplies. With increasing energy prices in the U.S. , Dr. Tao's contributions are of significant national interest.

Dr. Tao's EB-1(a) were submitted on February 25, 2005 and approved by the TSC on May 11, 2005.

Dr. Lu

Dr. Lu received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from a top Chinese university. His expertise led him to receive an M.S.E. and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from a distinguished university in America . He has published more than ten articles, of which the majority is in English and he is the first author. Dr. Lu has also presented at three different conferences.

Dr. Lu retained Z&A in 2004. Our attorney argued that Dr. Lu's research in optical interconnects and communications will project a $500 billion global market by the year 2013. Dr. Lu's work also directly applies to military and civilian services such as cell phone, wireless networks, automobile and other national interest industries. Z&A also argued that Dr. Lu work in optical interconnect technologies will prove to be the only way to overcome the bottleneck that the conventional all-electric interconnect systems will face in the near future.

We submitted Dr. Lu's package in February of 2004 and was approve in April of 2005.

Dr. Ling

Dr. Ling earned his M.S. in one of China 's best universities and came to the U.S. to pursue a PhD, however as of the petition date, he did not receive his PhD diploma. He has published 35 articles in major international electrical engineering journals and reviewed articles in these journals.

Dr. Ling retained Z&A in 2004. On his behalf, our attorneys addressed the beneficial and important nature of Dr. Ling's work towards national defense and high-tech industries. Z&A indicated that Dr. Ling was in fact being partly funded by the Department of Defense and Defense Advance Research Program Agency. Zhang & Associates also stressed that in a booming high-tech age, in order for America to be on the cutting edge and staying competitive; people like Dr. Ling must be allowed to have a NIW. Although Dr. Ling has not earned his PhD at the time of the petition, our attorneys proved that he would receive his diploma imminently.

We filed his papers on July 15, 2004 and were approved in April 2005.

Dr. Yao

Dr. Yao is a graduate from well respected Chinese universities with a B.S. in Physics and M.S. in optics. He than pursued a Ph.D. degree at an American university in the field of optical fiber sensor. He has published only one article during his years of research.

Dr. Yao retained Zhang & Associates in 2003. Our attorney noticed that Dr. Yao only has one article however we were able to prove that Dr. Yao's work has significant national interest. Z&A stressed that Dr. Yao achieved a world record in optical fiber sensor systems, developed new techniques for monitoring and multiplexing fiver optic sensors and his efforts led to the development of WLI systems for measuring quasi-static temperature and pressure in oil and gas wells. On top of that, Z&A pointed out that Dr. Yao's work in fiber optics compass systems has been of top interest for the U.S. Navy for nearly two decades.

Dr. Yao's package was sent in August of 2003 and they were approved in April of 2005

Dr. Peng

Dr. Peng earned his B.S. and M.S. in China majoring in Civil Engineering. After coming to America he continued his studies by obtaining a PhD in Civil Engineering at a top public university.

In 2004, Dr. Peng retained Z&A. Although many of Dr. Peng's recommendations did not come from close associates, Z&A was emphasized that Dr. Peng work was highly recognized around the world even by top experts that he never met in the U.K. His research in to pavement engineering in reducing the amount of asphalt used will save taxpayer millions of dollars His reputation was shown to be worldwide and his research of national interest.

Our attorneys submitted her papers on September of 2004 and were approved on April 25, 2005.

Dr. Qing

Dr. Qing received her M.S. in Petroleum Engineering in China and continued her studies with a Ph.D. in a distinguished American university. She has authored seven articles (including one article in a very prestigious journal), has one patent and published more than 20 abstracts. Her work in alternative fuel (hydrogen fuel cells) is a popular topic in the U.S.

Dr. Qing retained Z&A in 2004. Z&A analyzed her case and found it suitable for NIW. Z&A helped Dr. Qing obtain a letter of recommendation from a U.S. Governor and a top national laboratory. Zhang & Associates also focused on the important nature of her research into catalysis and fuel cell technology. Our attorney explained that her work can transform raw chemical ingredients into petroleum products, food products, and pharmaceuticals and more importantly her work on hydrogen cells is a key component of the President's clean air and climate change strategies.

Our attorney submitted her paper in August of 2004 and she was approved for NIW in April of 2005.

Mr. Jiang

Mr. Jiang earned his M.S. degree in electrical engineering from a competitive university in China . At the time of the petition, he was a candidate for a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineer at an American university. Mr. Jiang has only co-authored one article.

In 2004, Mr. Jiang decided to retain Z&A. Although Mr. Jiang did not have a Ph.D. as of yet and has only published one article to date, the Z&A team still felt confident that an NIW is within reach. Z&A argued that tissue and organ failure resulting from chronic conditions or injury costs the nation over $400 billion per year and on top of that transplantation of tissues or organs is serverely limited by availability of donors. However, Z&A successfully showed that with the research done by Mr. Jiang (tissue engineering) will significantly reduce these problems.

Mr. Jiang's papers were submitted in September of 2004 and approved in April of 2005.

Dr. PAN

Dr. PAN studied in Chemistry major for Master Degree and in Electrical and Computer Engineering major for his Ph.D. degree in universities in US. Dr. Pan has barely over 10 publications and most of them were written ten years ago. Plus, his majors are not what USCIS officers would typically look out for in most NIW petitioners.

One of our experienced attorney made careful study of his academic background and managed to find a key point in relating his research of Nanotechnology and its importance to the whole nation of America and elucidated to the USCIS officers that how the National Interest would be adversely affected if a labor certification was required for the petition. The officer was persuaded and approved the case in April 2005, only 3 months after the filing of the case.

Mr. HU

Mr. HU is a Chinese Chess player and has won many championships nationally. He has 8 publications in Chinese on the mindsport.

Unlike many alien of extraordinary ability, Mr. HU didn't have a degree of higher education in his field of endeavor. Our experienced attorney found that he won his first championship title when he was only 8 years old. Between 10 years of his practice, he won many first places nation wide in different age groups. He was awarded the First Grade National Chinese Chess Player, a rare honor for young people. Based on these facts, we wrote a very strong petition letter citing these important achievement, in combination of recommendation letters from his peers. We filed this petition under the category of alien of extraordinary ability.

The package was approved without RFE in January 2005.
