Biden Administration Restricts Travel from India Due to Pandemic

Beginning May 4th, 2021, the United States will restrict entry for foreign nationals who have been in India within 14 days of attempted entry. This policy will not apply to American citizens, U.S permanent residents and other more narrowly tailored exceptions. However, even those who are exempt will still be required to test negative prior to arrival, quarantine once upon arrival, and provide a negative test after arrival. To learn whether this new restriction applies to you, please visit https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/04/30/a-proclamation-on-the-suspension-of-entry-as-nonimmigrants-of-certain-additional-persons-who-pose-a-risk-of-transmitting-coronavirus-disease-2019/ to see all exceptions.

This new precaution is put in place in light of the high Covid-19 cases and multiple new variants common in India. As of April 30th, India recorded over 380,000 cases, accounting for 38% of the world’s cases recorded that week. The entry restriction will last indefinitely until the Biden Administration see fit to lit.
