On May 2, 2016, USCIS announced that data entry for all H-1B applications for fiscal year 2017 has been completed. USCIS will begin to return those H-1B applications that were not selected by the random selection process. In addition, USCIS requests petitioners not to inquire about the status of their H-1B applications until they have received either a receipt notice or their unselected petitions back. Based on the high number of petitions, USCIS is unable to offer a timeline to when the unselected petitions can be returned.

Furthermore, USCIS has transferred some Form I-129 H-1B petitions from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Centerto even the workload of cases. USCIS will contact you via mail if your case has been transferred to another processing center. If you would like to upgrade your H-1B petition to premium processing service, please send form I-907 and the appropriate fee to the service center processing your petition.
