H-1B Visas for FY2010 may Run out Soon
USCIS released the latest H-1B visa information on Nov. 23, 2009. As of Nov.20, 2009, USCIS reported that 56,900 cap-subject petitions had been filled.
As of November 13, 2009, USCIS reported that 55,600 cap-subject petitions had been filled.
From last week to this, 1,300 more spots have filled up. As mentioned in the last H-1B update, spots for advanced degree holders have been satisfactorily met; all other advanced degree holders applied will be counted towards the general cap. Remember, those who receive a job offer from a higher educational institute such as a university or from a non-profit organization will not count towards the general H-1B cap.
The number of H-1B petitions this week is certainly more drastic than last week, in which 900 H-1B spots filled up.
H-1B availability will most likely cease in a matter of a couple weeks at the current pace.
