FY2013 H-1B Cap Count Updated 5/22/12

USCIS released the latest H-1B visa information on May 22, 2012. As of May 18, 2012, USCIS reported that approximately 42,000 cap petitions had been filed and 16,000 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

Also according to USCIS, as of May 11, 2012, USCIS reported that approximately 36,700 cap petitions had been filed and 14,800 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

As of May 4, 2012, approximately 32,500 cap petitions had been filed and 13,700 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

In summary, within one week from May 4 to May 11, about 4200 cap petitions and 1100 petitions for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filed; within one week from May 11 to May 18, about 5300 cap petitions and 1200 petitions for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filed.

We predict that H-1B availability will probably cease sometime in next month at the current pace.

However, please remember, those who receive a job offer from a U.S. University, governmental research institution or non-profit research organization will not count towards the general H-1B cap mentioned above.
