USCIS released the latest H-1B visa information on April 30, 2012. As of April 27, 2012, USCIS reported that 29,200 cap petitions had been filed and 12,300 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

Also according to USCIS, as of April 20, 2012, USCIS reported that 25,000 cap petitions had been filed and 10,900 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

As of April 13, 2012, 20,600 cap petitions had been filed and 9,700 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

In summary, within one week from April 13 to April 20, about 4400 cap petitions and 1200 petitions for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filed; within one week from April 20 to April 27, about 4200 cap petitions and 1400 petitions for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filed.

We predict that H-1B availability will probably cease sometime in next two months at the current pace.

However, please remember, those who receive a job offer from a U.S. University, governmental research institution or non-profit research organization will not count towards the general H-1B cap mentioned above.
