On Tuesday, April 6th, the Vermont Service Center held a stakeholder meeting in which they reported the number of cap-subject petitions they had received as of April 5th. VSC maintains that they have received 9,525 cap-subject petitions, 2,734 advanced degree and 6,791 regular cap petitions. Those received before April 7, 2010 will be marked with an April 7, 2010 receipt date. Any petition received on or after April 7, 2010 will be marked with the actual receipt date. VSC also guarantees premium processing within 15 calendar days starting April 7, 2010.

The California Service Center’s report is not yet available at this point. However, according to our past experience, the California Service Center should not receive twice as many petitions as the Vermont Service Center. Therefore, we believe that the H-1B quota is still far from reaching its limitation for the first period of submission. We anticipate that the H-1B quota will remain available for the next several months. However, as the job market slowly begins to recover, H-1B filings may also accelerate as well.
